Love the new threads dude. Very chic.
Good answer indeed and cool new cloak. Not quite as big as the old one.
But you are fully correct in the way of killing him. Like you say, its the way of the Sith. A silent assassination during the night… when he is unaware of the situation and not at his strongest, the chance to strike is just… well, you know.
Charging head-on while he was awake would only put you in needless danger where the best lightsaber user of Force-user would have dragged the battle on for maybe hours and hours, leaving the winner tired and exposed… it wouldn’t be suitable to just recently defeat the all-time master of the Dark Side, and then get attacked by a bystanded who waited for the winner to wear himself out.
Assassination is the best choise. It also should help in keeping those who doubt you on their toes and make them scared about the idea of defying you.
